The project consists of the construction of several buildings, arranged both around the existing supermarket (partially preserved) and around the structure of the former furnace that was integrated in the complex. A large underground car park is located north and it partially occupies the main building “B”.
The complexity of the new geometries, shaped around the existing structure, articulated in a horizontal and vertical alignment of volumes, has imposed the use of an independent structure for each one of the main bodies. Only in this way we managed to ensure the free maturation of the settling of the body without any coactions, and the possibility of maintaining separate the seismic behavior of the various structures with different geometrical and inertial properties. The facilities are generally made of reinforced concrete, except the entrance whose facade is made of steel and glass. The cover of B-West-body is made of laminated wooden beams and platform.
